ACTH 4-7 Pro-Gly-Pro Neuropeptide Analogue

Buy Semax UK from Pureline Biolabs. Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide based on the ACTH(4–7) sequence with a Pro-Gly-Pro extension, developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics, Russian Academy of Sciences. Supplied as lyophilised powder for laboratory research and studied in BDNF signalling and neuropeptide research models. Independently verified at 98.938% purity by Janoshik Analytical — see the full batch certificate on our Lab Reports page.

About Semax

Semax (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic heptapeptide built on the ACTH fragment 4–7 sequence with a Pro-Gly-Pro extension, developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics, Russian Academy of Sciences. It does not carry the adrenocorticotropic activity of full-length ACTH. Researchers often compare Semax with Selank, a tuftsin analogue carrying the same Pro-Gly-Pro extension.

The published research on Semax, including the limits of what it shows, is reviewed on our Semax compound profile. Most of that literature comes from animal models and Russian research groups, and it does not describe the effects of research-grade material.

All Pureline Biolabs Semax is supplied as a lyophilised powder in sealed vials, independently tested by Janoshik Analytical at 98.938% purity. Certificates available on our Lab Reports page.

Research Background

Semax has a published literature, mostly from Russian academic institutions, in neuropeptide and neurotrophic-factor research. The areas below describe what studies measured, not established effects. For the full evidence review, see the Semax compound profile. This product is supplied for laboratory research purposes only.

Animal studies have measured BDNF mRNA and protein levels in hippocampal and cortical tissue after Semax administration.

Rodent ischaemia models have measured endpoints such as infarct volume and neuronal survival.

Rodent studies have used standard behavioural tests, such as the Morris water maze, as experimental endpoints.

Studies have measured dopamine release and turnover in mesolimbic and nigrostriatal pathways.

Studies have measured nerve growth factor (NGF) expression alongside BDNF in cell and animal models.

Transcriptomic studies have profiled changes in gene expression in rat brain tissue after Semax administration.

Reconstitution Guide

Semax is supplied as a lyophilised powder and must be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water before use in research applications.

Allow vial to reach room temperature. Clean the rubber stopper with an alcohol swab and allow to dry completely.

Draw required volume of BAC water into a sterile syringe. Inject slowly down the inside of the vial wall — not directly onto the powder.

Gently swirl until powder fully dissolves. Do not shake. Solution should be clear and colourless. Semax dissolves readily in BAC water.

Use our Reconstitution Calculator → for exact volumes.

Buying Semax in the UK — common questions

What researchers ask us before ordering. For the sequence, the published studies and what they do and do not show, see the Semax compound profile.

Should I buy the 5mg or the 10mg Semax vial?

Same compound and same batch chemistry — the difference is fill mass. The 5mg suits a single short protocol where the solution will be used inside a few weeks; the 10mg costs less per milligram and makes sense when a series of experiments is planned, provided you aliquot rather than repeatedly thawing one stock.

What purity is Pureline’s Semax, and who tested it?

Batch PLB-007 was reported at 98.938% by HPLC at Janoshik Analytical, with 5.28mg measured content in the 5mg vial. That is an area-percent figure under the laboratory’s stated method: it describes the chromatographic purity of the tested sample, not biological activity. The purity figures explained guide covers what area-percent leaves out.

How much bacteriostatic water does a Semax vial need?

Work from the measured content, not the label. 2ml into the 5mg vial gives roughly 2.64 mg/ml using the certificated 5.28mg; 2ml into a 10mg vial gives roughly 5 mg/ml against nominal fill. The reconstitution calculator has both vial sizes loaded, and the reconstitution guide explains why the volume you draw should be calculated from the certificate.

Semax or Selank — which is the right research article?

They are not substitutes. Semax is an ACTH(4–7) fragment extended with Pro-Gly-Pro, studied mainly for BDNF and TrkB-related gene expression. Selank is a synthetic tuftsin analogue, studied for anxiolytic and immune-modulatory endpoints. Structurally unrelated, different literature, different experimental questions.

Does Semax contain residues that limit which solvents I can use?

Yes. The sequence carries a methionine residue, which oxidises readily in DMSO. Where a hydrophobic co-solvent is unavoidable, the usual practice is to avoid DMSO for Met- and Cys-containing sequences and reach for an alternative. For routine work, bacteriostatic water is the standard diluent.

Can I see the Certificate of Analysis before I order?

Yes. The batch report goes up on our independent lab reports page before the stock is listed, and the batch number printed on your vial matches the number on the report. The label also carries a QR code that opens the report on Janoshik’s own verification server, so you are not taking our word for it.

Is Semax legal to buy in the UK?

It is supplied strictly as a research chemical for in vitro laboratory use. Whatever status Semax holds elsewhere, it has no UK marketing authorisation and is not a licensed medicine here, so it is not sold for human or veterinary use. The UK peptide law guide sets out how research-use materials sit within the regulations.
