About KPV
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is the C-terminal tripeptide fragment of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Its small size makes it a common tool in studies of melanocortin-related signalling that do not depend on the full-length hormone.
The published research on KPV, including the limits of what it shows, is reviewed on our KPV compound profile. Most of that literature comes from cell and animal models, and it does not describe the effects of research-grade material.
All Pureline Biolabs KPV is supplied as a lyophilised powder in sealed vials, independently tested by Janoshik Analytical at 98.015% purity. Certificates available on our Lab Reports page.

Research Background
KPV has been studied in inflammation-signalling, epithelial-biology and immunology research. The areas below describe what studies measured, not established effects. For the full evidence review, see the KPV compound profile. This product is supplied for laboratory research purposes only.
Cell studies have measured NF-κB activation and downstream cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6.
Laboratory models have measured tight-junction protein expression and transepithelial electrical resistance.
Rodent colitis models have used histological scores and cytokine profiles as experimental endpoints.
Cell culture studies have measured LPS-stimulated TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-12 secretion.
Studies in cells lacking melanocortin receptors have tested whether KPV’s signalling effects require MC receptor engagement.
Cell studies have measured cytokine markers in keratinocyte and other skin-cell models.
Store in refrigerator. Keep away from direct light and heat sources.
Use within 28 days. Do not refreeze once reconstituted.
Stable for up to 24 months when frozen as lyophilised powder.
Standard refrigerator storage conditions are sufficient. Protect from prolonged direct light.
Reconstitution Guide
KPV is supplied as a lyophilised powder and must be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water before use in research applications. KPV is a small tripeptide and dissolves very readily.
Allow vial to reach room temperature. Clean the rubber stopper with an alcohol swab and allow to dry completely.
Draw required volume of BAC water into a sterile syringe. Inject slowly down the inside of the vial wall — not directly onto the powder.
Gently swirl until powder fully dissolves. KPV dissolves almost instantly due to its small size. Solution should be clear and colourless.

Buying KPV in the UK — common questions
What purity is Pureline’s KPV, and who tested it?
Batch PLB-011 was reported at 98.015% by HPLC at Janoshik Analytical, with LC-MS supporting the assigned identity. It is an area-percent figure under the laboratory’s stated method, describing chromatographic purity of the tested sample rather than biological activity. We publish the number we were given rather than rounding it up — the supplier quality claims guide covers why that matters.
How much bacteriostatic water does a 10mg KPV vial need?
2ml gives 5 mg/ml and 3ml gives roughly 3.33 mg/ml. KPV is a small, highly water-soluble tripeptide, so it should go into solution readily without a co-solvent — if it does not, something is wrong with the vial rather than the method. The reconstitution calculator has this vial loaded.
What exactly is KPV?
Lys-Pro-Val — a three-residue peptide corresponding to the C-terminal tripeptide of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. It is one of the shortest sequences in the research-peptide catalogue, which is why its handling characteristics differ noticeably from the longer chains: higher aqueous solubility, and a different degradation profile.
How does it compare with the other tissue-research peptides?
It does not substitute for them. KPV sits in the melanocortin-fragment literature; compounds such as BPC-157 and TB-500 come from entirely separate research lines with their own published work. Comparisons between them tend to come from marketing rather than from studies that ran them side by side — our guide to how KPV works covers that comparison and the two mechanisms behind it.
How should KPV be stored?
Sealed and lyophilised at 2–8°C, away from light; it ships cold chain from the UK. Once in solution, refrigerate at 2–8°C and aliquot into single-use portions before freezing so the stock takes one freeze-thaw cycle rather than one per use. Let a closed vial warm to room temperature before opening, because lyophilised powder draws moisture onto a cold surface.
Can I see the Certificate of Analysis before I order?
Yes. Every batch report is published on our independent lab reports page before the stock is listed, and the batch number on the report matches the number printed on your vial. The label carries a QR code that opens the report on Janoshik’s own verification server.
Is KPV legal to buy in the UK?
It is supplied strictly as a research chemical for in vitro laboratory use. KPV holds no UK marketing authorisation and is not a licensed medicine here, so it is not sold for human or veterinary use. The UK peptide law guide sets out how research-use materials sit within the regulations.
All products sold by Pureline Biolabs Ltd are intended strictly for laboratory research purposes only. Not approved for human consumption, veterinary use, or any other application.
