Can You Buy Retatrutide in the UK? — Trial Data and Regulatory Status
Not as a medicine, and not from anyone. Retatrutide is approved nowhere in the world, and Eli Lilly does not expect to file with the FDA until the first quarter of 2027. Here is where the science actually stands, and what a research supplier can and cannot legitimately sell you.
The Short Answer
You cannot buy retatrutide as a medicine anywhere in the world, because it is not approved anywhere in the world. There is no licensed product, no prescription route in the UK, and no pharmacy that can dispense it.
What does exist is a research-chemical market. Pureline supplies retatrutide as a lyophilised powder for in vitro laboratory research, with the batch certificate published before the stock is listed. That is a different transaction with a different legal character, and the distinction is the entire subject of this article.
This is a regulatory and evidence summary. It is not medical advice, it describes no use of retatrutide in humans or animals, and it contains no dosing information. If you are looking into treatment for obesity or type 2 diabetes, that conversation belongs with your GP, who can discuss the medicines that are actually licensed in the UK.
Where Retatrutide Actually Stands
Retatrutide, development code LY3437943, is an Eli Lilly molecule: a synthetic 39-residue peptide that agonises three receptors at once — GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon. Hence “triple agonist”.
On 23 July 2026 Lilly reported results from two further Phase 3 trials and stated that it plans to submit a Biologics License Application to the FDA in Q1 2027, while it completes the manufacturing and controls data package.1 Lilly’s own description is that retatrutide remains an investigational molecule that cannot legally be sold or marketed for human use.
A US filing in early 2027 is a filing, not an approval. Review takes months. A UK licence is a separate application to the MHRA on its own timeline. Anyone telling you retatrutide will be on prescription shortly is guessing.

What the Trials Found
The trial results are the reason people are searching for this compound at all, so they are worth stating accurately — and worth putting in context immediately afterwards.
Phase 2
Jastreboff and colleagues published a Phase 2 trial in the New England Journal of Medicine in June 2023.2 It enrolled 338 adults with obesity and without type 2 diabetes, running 48 weeks with weekly subcutaneous doses of 1mg, 4mg, 8mg or 12mg. At the highest dose the reported mean body weight change was −24.2% at 48 weeks, against −2.1% for placebo.
Phase 3
In the July 2026 announcement, Lilly reported TRIUMPH-2 in adults with type 2 diabetes and obesity or overweight — weight loss up to an average of 20.8% with A1C reductions up to 1.6% at 80 weeks — and TRIUMPH-3 in adults with severe obesity and established cardiovascular disease, with weight loss up to an average of 22.6% at 80 weeks.1
Every figure above comes from a controlled clinical trial: a specific formulation manufactured to pharmaceutical standards, specific doses, titration schedules, medical supervision, monitoring, and participants screened for eligibility. None of that transfers to material bought online.
The results describe what a pharmaceutical product did under trial conditions. They are not a claim about what any research chemical does for anybody, and no supplier — including this one — is in a position to make that claim.
Why There Is No Legitimate “Reta Pen”
A large share of searches around this compound are for pre-filled pens. It is worth being blunt about what those are.
There is no manufactured retatrutide pen, because there is no approved retatrutide product to put in one. Anything presented as a ready-to-use pen has been assembled by somebody outside an approved manufacturing process, which means the fill, the concentration, the sterility and the stability all rest on the word of whoever assembled it.
Pureline supplies lyophilised powder in sealed vials, with an independent certificate of analysis for the batch, for laboratory research. We do not supply pens, pre-mixed solutions or anything presented as ready for use, and we would not.
What Retatrutide Costs, and Why
Price is one of the more common questions, and the honest answer has two halves.
There is no price for retatrutide as a medicine, because no medicine exists. Whatever a licensed product might eventually cost in the UK, nobody knows, and it would be set through the usual NHS and NICE processes rather than by a supplier.
For research material, price is driven by synthesis difficulty, order volume, analytical testing and cold-chain storage. A 39-residue peptide is a long chain to synthesise, which is why retatrutide costs more per vial than the short sequences in the same catalogue — KPV is three residues, for comparison.
The practical point for anyone comparing suppliers is cost per milligram of verified peptide, not cost per vial. Our retatrutide product page lists 10mg and 20mg presentations; the 20mg works out cheaper per milligram, and both carry a published Janoshik certificate stating measured content as well as purity. A cheaper vial with no certificate, or a certificate that cannot be verified at the issuing laboratory, is not cheaper — you simply do not know what you bought. The purity figures guide covers why measured content matters as much as the percentage.
What Pureline Supplies, and to Whom
Retatrutide is listed as a laboratory research material. The current batches are PLB-003 (10mg) and PLB-002 (20mg), tested by Janoshik Analytical at 99.515% and 99.763% respectively, with measured content of 13.51mg and 18.36mg. Both certificates are published on the lab reports page before the stock goes live, and the batch number on the report matches the number on the vial.
It is not sold for human or veterinary use, no dosing guidance is published anywhere on this site, and no therapeutic claims are made for it. The Retatrutide compound profile covers the receptor pharmacology and the published literature in full, and what research-use-only supply means sets out the standards we hold ourselves to.
If You Are Asking About Weight Loss
Some people reading this will have arrived from a search about obesity treatment rather than laboratory research. It is worth saying plainly where that leaves you.
Retatrutide is not available to you as a treatment, from us or from anyone, and buying research material to use on yourself is not something relabelling makes safe or lawful. There are licensed medicines in this class available in the UK through a GP or a regulated pharmacy service, prescribed and monitored by someone qualified to do it. That is the route worth taking, and NICE publishes guidance on the options.
We would rather lose the sale than pretend otherwise.
Common Questions
Can you buy retatrutide in the UK?
Not as a medicine — it holds no UK marketing authorisation and is not available on prescription. It can be supplied lawfully as a research chemical for in vitro laboratory use, which is what Pureline sells it as.
Is retatrutide approved by the FDA?
No. Eli Lilly announced in July 2026 that it plans to submit a Biologics License Application in the first quarter of 2027. A filing is the start of a review, not an approval, and retatrutide is currently approved in no country.
When will retatrutide be available on prescription in the UK?
Nobody can say. A UK licence requires a separate MHRA application on its own timeline, after or alongside the US process. Any specific date you see quoted is speculation.
How much does retatrutide cost?
There is no price as a medicine, because no licensed product exists. As a research material, price reflects synthesis difficulty, testing and storage; a 39-residue peptide costs more than a short sequence. Compare suppliers on cost per milligram of verified peptide with a published certificate, not on the price of the vial.
Is reta the same as retatrutide?
Yes. “Reta” and “reta peptide” are research-market shorthand, and LY3437943 is the Eli Lilly development code. All refer to the same 39-residue triple agonist.
Are retatrutide pens genuine?
There is no manufactured retatrutide pen, because there is no approved product to fill one. Anything sold as a ready-to-use pen has been assembled outside an approved process, so fill accuracy, sterility and stability rest entirely on the assembler. Pureline supplies lyophilised powder in sealed vials only.
What dose of retatrutide should I take?
We do not publish dosing information and no legitimate UK research supplier will. The doses in the published trials were administered under medical supervision using a pharmaceutical-grade product that is not commercially available. They do not transfer to research material, and treating them as though they do would be a serious mistake.
What are the side effects of retatrutide?
Any adverse event profile belongs to the clinical trial programme, recorded under medical supervision with a pharmaceutical formulation. It does not describe what happens to someone using a research chemical bought online, and we make no safety claims about material supplied for laboratory use.
